In the context of global energy transition and the rapid development of the marine economy, high-voltage undersea cables, as a critical technology for connecting offshore wind farms to terrestrial power grids, have garnered significant attention in the industry regarding their domestication process. In mid-October, a ±500kV DC undersea cable domestication technology exchange seminar was successfully held at Wanma Macromolecule. The seminar was led by the Electric Power Research Institute of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd., with participation from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhongtian Technology Submarine Cable Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Wanma Macromolecule.
At this seminar, experts in attendance collectively discussed the challenges faced by high-voltage undersea cable technology and its future development directions. The aim is to promote technological innovation and self-reliance in China's undersea cable technology through technical exchanges and collaborative efforts, accelerating the domestication process to meet the growing demand for offshore wind power.
During the seminar, experts conducted in-depth analyses and discussions on key technical aspects of undersea cable design, materials, and manufacturing. They also engaged in lively discussions on how to overcome the technical challenges of high-voltage DC cable materials, improve the performance of raw materials and finished products, and enhance international competitiveness.
